Architect – Design Standards & Technical Review
Armand Corporation is seeking a qualified Architect to support a major transportation agency client in the review and coordination of tenant alteration applications (TAA) and design audit projects. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of building codes, architectural systems, and construction practices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing architectural documents, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and life safety analyses to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, agency standards, and technical requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including tenant representatives, architects, engineers, and agency personnel.
Location & Schedule: The Architect will perform consulting services in Jersey City, New Jersey, either on-site or remotely, as directed by the client.
Essential Responsibilities
Design & Technical Review
- Review architectural submissions associated with Tenant Alteration Applications (TAA) and design audit projects.
- Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, calculations, life safety analyses, and related technical documentation.
- Verify compliance with applicable building codes, agency standards, and technical requirements.
- Review construction documents for completeness and accuracy.
Project Coordination
- Download and process electronic TAA submissions.
- Coordinate review comments from multiple technical disciplines.
- Prepare memoranda and correspondence transmitting review comments to project stakeholders.
- Communicate with agency facilities personnel regarding TAA and design audit project processing.
Meetings & Stakeholder Engagement
- Attend meetings with tenant Architects and Engineers of Record.
- Present review comments and discuss required revisions.
- Assist in resolving design and code-related issues.
- Serve as a liaison between tenant representatives, agency facilities personnel, and technical reviewers.
Administrative & Systems Support
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and agency software platforms to track reviews and maintain project documentation.
- Learn and utilize agency systems including SharePoint, eBuilder, and other project management applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience involving building codes, architectural design, and building systems.
- Strong understanding of architectural disciplines related to building design and construction.
- Experience reviewing construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders and technical disciplines.
- Registered Architect (RA) license in the State of New York and/or New Jersey.
Preferred
- Experience with transportation facilities, public-sector projects, airports, transit facilities, or related infrastructure.
- Experience performing code compliance reviews and design audits.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, eBuilder, or similar project management platforms.
- Experience working with public agencies or government clients.
