Construction Inspector - Civil Quality Assurance
Armand Corporation, an award-winning M/WBE Construction Management firm celebrating over 33 years in the industry, is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector - Civil Quality Assurance for a federal construction project related to complex rail, transit, and other transportation projects in NY & NJ.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on rails, tunnels, bridges, and ports, as well as an Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Civil Engineering or a related field.
This position will be full-time, on-site. Candidates are expected to live in or near the Jersey City, New Jersey area.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct inspections to assess existing conditions, ongoing work, and completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, including daily work reports, controlled inspection reports, time and material records, and unit price work records.
- Review and mark plans and specifications to ensure compliance and track project progress effectively.
- Monitor work conditions to verify compliance to applicable safety regulations.
- Manage conflicting priorities, address challenges proactively, and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on work progress and address concerns promptly.
- Other related duties and tasks as required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in: Civil Engineering or a related field is highly preferred. Relevant certifications or equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Advanced certifications preferred (NICET, ACI, etc.).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant qualified experience in the design, installation, construction, and inspection of various Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing elements, including but not limited to fire-rated construction, fire/smoke dampers, electrical panels, concrete/masonry wall construction, and similar systems. Consideration will also be given for related building code-required special inspections for acceptance of the elements noted above.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision/inspection.
- Must hold, or have the ability to obtain, the following security clearances, which include an extensive (Federal) criminal background check: SWAC clearance, TWIC clearance, and SIDA clearance.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of Construction Codes for New Jersey, New York City, and New York State, along with the related referenced standards such as ADA Standards, etc.
- Must hold an OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30) certification, obtained within 5 years prior to assignment commencement. Certification must be maintained and renewed prior to 5 years since the last qualification. Supported scaffold training may be required as well, as needed by project.
- Must possess organizational skills to correctly prioritize inspection assignments, and to organize and prepare reports.
- Strong written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and may be required to travel depending on project sites.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken)
