Summary of Position
The Assistant Project Manager reports to a Project Manager, Level I, II, III or to a Senior Project Manager. Assistant Project Managers may perform a broad range of supportive and necessary technical tasks of varying degrees of difficulty in a variety of assignments within the Construction Management Dept. while receiving training in all phases of assigned construction projects related to the mission.- Responsibilities:
- Serves as an essential member of the project team, and under general supervision, coordinates and expedites the development or improvement of a number of more complex capital projects; may assist in expediting the development of complex projects which are the immediate responsibility of a Project Manager; and ensures the quality and high standards of contract performance and compliance in all aspects of assigned projects.
- The Assistant Project Manager Level III assists in making decisions and taking actions in a timely manner to expedite the completion of the construction process.
- The Assistant Project Manager Level III assists in correcting mistakes and errors before they can be extensively incorporated into the project.
- Duties:
- Under direct supervision of a Project Manager, will perform more complex and difficult technical tasks, such as the negotiations of change orders and contracts.
- Prepare drafts of job status and other reports for review by Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.
- May assist in overseeing the consultant selection and contracting process, and manages these contracts, or retains in-house design and construction management staff.
- Respond to external and internal request(s) for information/ data in a timely manner, within pre-established parameters.
- Provide guidance and advise Assistant Project Manager Level I. May perform job duties of Assistant Project Manager Level I.
- Visit various job sites to perform post-occupancy evaluations of the facilities in conjunction with the Department of Education.
- Perform other related tasks.
Minimum Requirements:
- Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services or related course work.
- Three (3) years of full-time paid construction work experience.
- MUST HAVE A driver’s license valid in New York State.
