Construction Quality Inspector - Civil and Railway
Armand Corporation, an award-winning M/WBE Construction Management firm with over 33 years of industry excellence, is seeking a full-time Construction Quality Inspector for a federal construction project involving complex rail, transit, and transportation infrastructure in New York and New Jersey.
The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, focusing on rails, tunnels, bridges, and ports, along with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
If selected, candidates must provide digital proof of licensure and certifications, including academic credentials, prior to the interview. All information will be handled with discretion and used solely for employment purposes, including background checks for government agency clients.
This is a full-time, on-site position. Candidates should reside in or near the Newark, New Jersey area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of existing conditions, ongoing work, and completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications, accuracy, and adherence to standards.
- Evaluate materials and vendor supplies to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including daily work reports, inspection records, and time and material logs.
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Review and annotate plans and specifications to ensure compliance and monitor project progress.
- Verify compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards on job sites.
- Resolve conflicting priorities, proactively address challenges, and contribute to successful project outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns promptly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent certifications or experience will be considered.
- Advanced certifications (e.g., NICET, ACI) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, installation, construction, and inspection of Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision or inspection.
- Ability to obtain security clearances, including SWAC, TWIC, and SIDA.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with New Jersey, NYC, and New York State Construction Codes, ADA Standards, and other referenced standards.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (valid within the past five years) is required. Scaffold training may also be necessary depending on project requirements.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize assignments and prepare detailed reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and fluent in English.
